Dr. Angela Voss
MA Director & Senior Lecturer
I am Programme Director for the MA in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred https://www.facebook.com/mcscccu/. Here at CCCU we have created an MA programme which aims to unite critical, creative and reflexive modes of knowing, very much based on Iain McGilchrist’s study of the complementarity of the brain hemispheres, and Jeffrey Kripal’s notion of ‘the third classroom’. In this regard we connect with the Jungain aspects of the Transformative Learning movement within Education. Overall, I would say that my academic passion is the marriage of scholarship with spiritual wisdom, and to that end I research and write about the power of symbolism and symbolic imterpretation (particularly in forms of divination), the revival of neoplatonic thought, and the imagination as a tool for reflexive methodologies.
Dr. Simon Wilson
I have been working at Canterbury Christ Church University since 2013, and am now a Senior Lecturer teaching on the MA Myth Cosmology and the Sacred, and supervising PhD/MPhil students. My own PhD, which was awarded in 1992, was on models of organic order and disorder in the works of Thomas De Quincey. As part of my research I examined the relation between various conceptions of physical order, the psyche and creativity. My range of academic interests is wide, and includes sacred art and literature, wisdom traditions, the Grail, Eastern Orthodox mystical theology, the writings of Charles Fort, Earth Mysteries, Sky Mysteries and mythopoetic representations of the East Kent landscape.
